Changing savanna scene full of herbivores, Tarangire National Park, Tanzania (image 2 of 3). The savannas of northern Tanzania are home to a wide variety of large mammals. Are the different herbivores in this scene competing for the same food resources? Probably not--the horned creatures in the foreground called elands eat leaves of shrubs and herbs, zebras mostly eat grasses, and the elephant eats a mixed diet of tree leaves and grasses. If you just sit for a few seconds the scene will change as different animals move in and out of view. The first and third images in this sequence were taken just 19 seconds apart.
