High desert scrub, southeastern Arizona. This desert scrub habitat exists in the lowlands between the "Sky Island" mountain ranges. The plants and animals that live here must be adapted to long periods of drought, as well as temperatures that vary widely throughout the year. The creosote bush has small resinous leaves that help it retain moisture.
