Parasitic fungus and its wasp victim, Costa Rica. In rainforests and cloud forests the conditions are warm and moist, perfect for fungi. It is common to see insects that have been parasitized and killed by a fungus. In this image, the white stringy material projecting from between the plates of the wasp's exoskeleton are all parts of a deadly fungus.
