Deforested hillsides during dry season, Western Ghats Mountains, Southwest India. The Western Ghats are a fringe of rainforest in Southwest India, and are considered a conservation hotspot by many conservation organizations due to the number of endemic species there. Although some of the forest remains, a fair amount has been cut, as can be seen in this image, and as the population grows, more forest is being cut.
